Congressman Kucinich Please Shut Up!

Hamas Bears Responsibility for Palestinian Casualties
Will Malven
Dec 29, 2008

I really get tired of the endless refrain of moral equivalency coming from American politicians, mostly those on the Left, like Dennis Kucinich (D-OH).

Today Representative Kucinich had the effrontery to send a letter to United Nations Secretary General Ban ki-Moon requesting, "an independent United Nations inquiry on Israel’s War in Gaza."

Here is the announcement from his
Congressional web page:
“Today I sent a letter to Secretary General Ban ki-Moon urging the United Nations to establish an independent inquiry of Israel's war against Gaza. The attacks on civilians represent collective punishment, which is a violation of Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention (http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/92.htm). The perpetrators of attacks against Israel must also be brought to justice, but Israel cannot create a war against an entire people in order to attempt to bring to justice the few who are responsible. The Israeli leaders know better. The world community, which has been very supportive of Israel's right to security and its right to survive, also has a right to expect Israel to conduct itself in adherence to the very laws which support the survival of Israel and every other nation,” Kucinich said.

Israel is leveling Gaza to strike at Hamas, just as they pulverized south Lebanon to strike at Hezbollah. Yet in both cases civilian populations were attacked, countless innocents killed or injured, infrastructure targeted and destroyed, and civil law enforcement negated. All this was, and is, disproportionate, indiscriminate mass violence in violation of international law. Israel is not exempt from international law and must be held accountable. It is time for the UN to not just call for a cease-fire, but for an inquiry as to Israel's actions.”

According to published news reports, since the commencement of aerial strikes, over 300 Palestinians have been killed and approximately 1,400 have been wounded. The dead include 20 children under the age of 16--nearly half of them killed while on a school bus, according to the United Nations--and 9 women. The attack aggravated a humanitarian crisis wrought by the Israeli-imposed blockade of food, fuel, and medical supplies. With a population of 1.5 million people, the Gaza Strip is among the most densely populated territories in the world.

Either Congressman Kucinich is pathetically uninformed, stupid, or intentionally lying in his appeal. What we see here is a perfect example of "moral equivalency" of the same type to which Israel was subjected in Southern Lebanon, and to which we Americans and our troops were subjected in Iraq, by the same bad actors.

Mr. Kucinich uses hyperbole, distortion and intentionally inflammatory language; all of it aimed at Israel while barely acknowledging that their attacks have occurred in response to extensive and repeated rocket attacks by Hamas against civilian Israeli targets. I suppose that one should be happy that an anti-semite like Kucinich is willing to acknowledge that any attacks against Israel have occurred at all.

I seem to have missed his repeated calls for U.N. action against the terrorist organization Hamas over the past 6 months for their nearly daily missile attacks intentionally directed against civilian targets in Israel.

What I cannot miss are his statements like "
the attacks on civilians represent collective punishment..." as if the Israelis are through their IAF specifically targeting civilians for elimination. Such lies cannot be allowed to go unchallenged.

1.     Israel has not been launching "attacks on civilians," that particular activity lies in the province of these terrorist organizations.
2.   Israel did not "create a war against an entire people," to the contrary, their attacks have been surgical in nature and where possible civilians have been warned ahead of time about the upcoming attacks. Again it is Hamas, like other terrorist organizations that have "created a war against an entire people."
3.   Israel is not "leveling Gaza," only specifically targeted building which have long been associated with Hamas military activities.
4.   Israel never "pulverized south Lebanon," again they used surgical strikes against known Hezbollah strong holds.
5.    Israel never attacks "civilian populations." Again that is the sole province of Congressman Kucinich's terrorist friends.
6.   "Countless innocents" have not been killed or injured, the numbers are pretty well known, although we do also know that in South Lebanon there were attempts by Hezbollah to grossly inflate the casualty numbers for propaganda purposes.
7.    The attacks by Israel have been anything but "indiscriminate." They have been very carefully and specifically targeted at Hamas military strongholds.
8.   Of the "over 300 Palestinians" killed, we know that a vast majority of them are Hamas terrorists, not civilians.
Yes, civilian casualties do occur. In war such unfortunate events do occur, but any attempt to draw moral equivalency between inadvertent "collateral casualties" caused in the course of attacking clearly military targets, as has happened in Israel's attacks and the direct and intentional efforts by Hamas and other terrorists organizations to inflict civilian casualties using suicide bombings and indiscriminate rocket attacks against civilian targets is beneath contempt.

Just as American pilots used particular care to avoid civilian casualties in attacking Iraqi targets, even to the point of endangering their own lives to do so, members of the IAF have gone out of their ways to avoid civilian casualties including sending text messages to the cell phones of civilians who reside inside of targeted buildings warning them of the upcoming attacks.

Mr. Kucinich lies with all of the ease I have come to expect from those on the Left. He knows quite well (or should if he doesn't) that members of Hamas as did members of Hezbollah in South Lebanon, intentionally locate their headquarters and armories in areas heavily populated with civilians with the sole intention of causing high civilian casualties for use as propaganda.
In attacking Israel for the resulting civilian casualties, Mr. Kucinich is working hand in hand with these terrorist organizations against an ally of America, just as he and his supporters worked to enable our enemies in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It is dishonest, it is amazingly cynical, and it is despicable and deserving of public reprimand.

Kucinich and his followers have a long history of blaming America and Israel for doing accidentally what groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and al Qaeda do intentionally. This cynical attempt at moral equivalency is unbecoming of a member of Congress and should be soundly and loudly criticized by his fellow members.
Mr. Kucinich, sit down and shut up. You are an embarassment to your nation and are working against our nations established foreign policy.

Democrat California Legislators Appeal to Courts to Overturn the Will of the People On Proposition 8

Will Malven

I have always been impressed with the Democrat Party's dedication to the principles of democracy. They speak of it so eloquently. They advocate it so broadly when speaking of sharing the wealth of others with those "less fortunate." It seems they just can't get enough of it...unless they disagree with its consequences.

Take California for example. The people approved Proposition 8, 52.3% to 47.7% - a margin of over half-a-million votes. They did this in spite of the fact that proponents of the proposition were out spent by its opponents by slightly less than $2 Million.

Thus the will of the people, as expressed by California voters is to amend the state constitution to define marriage solely as the union between a man and a woman. The vote overturned the California State Supreme Court ruling that declared same-sex marriage was a fundamental right for California citizens.

Seems the people of California, just like most Americans, don't like rule by judicial
fiat. Simply amazing, no?

But wait, Democrats in the state legislature have suddenly decided that democracy only counts when the will of the people agrees with their own narrow political philosophy. I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you!

Anyway, here's the LA Times report concerning this issue.

Democratic legislators ask state Supreme Court to void Prop. 8
Opponents contend that a ban on gay marriage can only be done by a revision of the state Constitution involving the Legislature. The Prop. 8 campaign leader calls the effort 'a Hail Mary.'

By Dan Morain
November 11, 2008

Reporting from Sacramento -- Forty-three Democratic legislators, including leaders of the California Senate and Assembly, filed a brief Monday urging the California Supreme Court to void Proposition 8.

Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata and incoming President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg signed the friend of the court brief, filed with the state Supreme Court.

No Republican legislator signed the petition, though Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Republican, denounced the anti-gay marriage measure over the weekend.

With almost 11 million ballots tallied, Proposition 8 had 52.3% of the vote to 47.7%. Although many ballots remain to be counted, the 500,000-vote spread is viewed as insurmountable.

"The citizens of California rely on the Legislature and the courts to safeguard against unlawful discrimination by temporary, and often short-lived, majorities," the legislators said in the document, written by attorneys at the firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.

Yep. We can't allow those "short-lived majorities" to make laws, that ability should be restricted to the courts. Those Democrats sure do uphold the rule of the will of the people...when it suits them.
Perhaps the Supreme Court of the United States should overturn this last Presidential Election; after all, the margin of victory was not much greater than that of Proposition 8. Maybe the Supreme Court of the United States should decide who is to be our President rather than relying on these "short -lived majorities."
In fact, I say let's just do away with voting entirely. The courts can make all of our laws and the American people can be relieved of the burdensome task of making decisions. I'm sure our Democrat Party friends would love this...provided the judges and justices made their decisions in accord with the Democrat Party agenda.
Funny, I seem to remember a lot of Democrat whining and screaming following the 2000 Presidential Election; seems they were not so enamored of having the court decide the victor in an election (which of course the court didn't do).
I can't remember a clearer example of Democrat hypocrisy...since the Obama campaign ended. Imagine trying to overturn an election simply because you disagree with the will of the people. Why such an action would be...un-Democrat-ic.

The sheer hubris of these people is a sight to behold. Once more we are shown how arrogant and elitist Liberals are. They have proven over and over again their contempt for the American voters.

The Democrat Party; truly the Party of the people...occasionally.

Nothing More Than Sop to Unionized Inefficiency

Will Malven
September 31, 2008

Throwing good money after bad. That seems to be the only ideas coming out of Washington these days and the GM $25 Billion bailout is a perfect example of pandering at the tax-payer's expense.

It's the worst idea to come out of Washington yet in response to the current financial crisis; let’s give $Billions to the bloated unions of the automotive industry.

Make no mistake, the proposed $25 Billion bailout for GM is nothing more than that; a sop to the UAW. Everyone knows this, the Democrat demagogues who are pushing the bailout idea know this, they are simply providing a payback for union support in the past election. Republicans know this, that's why they are fighting the GM bailout plan.

There has been a lot of criticism, some of it well deserved, directed at the management of the big three auto-makers, but it is not the manufacture of SUV's and other gas-guzzling vehicles that has been the primary cause of economic distress for US automakers, it is the power of unions in non-right to work states that has been the most egregious negative force on manufacturer profitability.

It is time for the big three to declare bankruptcy and break those bloated union contracts.

I know, I know, I've heard all of those dire predictions of 3 million displaced workers should the automotive industry fail, but those absurd predictions are predicated on a lie. Bankruptcy does not mean the end of a business; it means the restructuring of a business.

Filing Chapter 11 won't mean the loss of millions of jobs, that's just more union/Democrat demagoguery. What it would mean is restructuring those industries with a more profitable business model, more rational benefits packages for their employees and more realistic pay scales for their employees.

Toyota manufactures a majority of the automobiles they sell to Americans right here in the good ole' USA and they manage to do so profitably. The reason why is simple; they aren't locked into huge pension and benefits packages like the Big Three.

It is estimated that labor under the current contracts between the Big Three and UAW workers cost over $73/ employee. Toyota America costs run about $48/employee. This means that Toyota America has an advantage over GM, Ford and Chrysler of better than

On a per vehicle basis this amounts to an increased cost of
$1400.00 in healthcare and pension benefits to current and retired auto-workers over that of Toyota.

Of course it gets even better than that, the unions have also garnered an additional overhead of $1000.00 in holiday pay, work rules, plant-shutdown-pay and line-relief to UAW workers. Thus every automobile that GM manufactures comes with an automatic
$2400.00 penalty in union associated costs; expenses that Toyota doesn't have to pay.

Forcing GM and the other United States automobile manufacturers into Chapter 11 would enable them to restructure their debts, renegotiate more reasonable contracts with the unions and instantly become more competitive in the automotive market.

Of course sacking management would probably be a reasonable action as well, which is why GM is begging the government to bail them out at tax-payer expense. Those fat-cat managers won't be able to collect their huge bonuses if they are forced into Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

For those of you average citizens, who are inclined to feel sorry for the UAW workers, just remember those hourly numbers:
1.     Average hourly compensation for the Big Three, $73
2.   Average hourly compensation for Toyota, $48
3.   Average hourly compensation for all American workers, $28.48
Democrats need to explain why those "average workers" making $28.48/hour in total compensation should be forced to foot the bill for those Big Three autoworkers pulling down over two and a half times as much money and benefits as those same "average workers."

Break the unions, restructure the automobile manufacturers, and revitalize our economy with tax-breaks. End all corporate taxes (after all, customers pay corporate taxes, not corporations), completely eliminate the capital gains tax, and increase tax incentives for research and development.

Do the above and make the current tax rates permanent and this economy would turn around virtually overnight.

Of course none of this will happen now, because Democrats control both Houses of Congress and the White House, and the unions control Democrats. What will happen instead is a bailout for the Big Three automakers, forced unionization of Toyota America, an end to the tax-cuts President Bush put in place, an increase in corporate taxes, and an increase in the capital gains tax-rates.

And that is a recipe for economic disaster.
·  In six months, GM and the rest will be back for more money because nothing will have been done to solve the core problems in that industry.
·  Because of the draconian tax system, the economy will sink into a nighmarish recession which the Democrats will blame on Republicans even though they have been in control of the economy since January 21st, 2007
·  Job losses will sky-rocket as will government spending, plunging us into further economic misery.
·  More jobs will be lost to overseas companies, again due to the draconian corporate tax-rates imposed by Democrats.
·  Gasoline prices will be up over $4.00/gallon by next summer and they will not fall, because Democrats will not support further domestic exploration.
·  Energy prices will also sky-rocket as "green" initiatives restrict our ability to build coal-fired electric plants and government invests $ Billions into untested, unproven alternative energy sources.
Pretty grim stuff for the average American citizen. Democrats won't care, because they want high gasoline and oil prices. They figure to leverage your misery into forcing you to use mass transit and drive smaller, more dangerous vehicles.
America always deserves the government for which it votes. Unfortunately the idiots who earn that $28.48 and still voted for Obama and the Democrat Party will force the rest of us to suffer along with them.
The one bright spot in all of this is that probably by 2010, but certainly by 2012, American voters will see once again that the Democrat Party model of high taxes and increased government spending doesn't work (and never has) and the pendulum will swing back towards the free-market model of Conservatism and Republicans (if they don't screw it up).
We may not unseat the messiah of the Democrat Party in 2012, but we will begin to make inroads in Congress and by 2016 the Republican Party will be back in the White House. My only concern is how we survive long enough economically to get there.
I would much prefer a strong economy to the narrow, doubtful pleasures of political gamesmanship, but then I'm a Conservative and therefore unlike my Democrat friends, place the good of my country over the good of my party.
It is time for unions to die their long overdue deaths. They served a real purpose a hundred years ago, but they have been the primary drag on our economy for forty years or so, extorting unrealistically high wage and benefits concessions from corporations, institutionalizing inefficiency, and protecting incompetence.
We see these effects in virtually all industries (and especially so in our federal government where employees are virtually impervious to attempts to terminate them), but nowhere is the problem unions cause more readily apparent than in the problems of our automotive industry.

Iraqi Oil Ministry Awards Oil Contract to China: Thank Chuck Schumer

Will Malven

Well, Senator Chucky “Microphone Moth” Schumer (D-NY) strikes again.

It seems that Iraq had planned to award 6 no-bid contracts to Western oil companies for rebuilding and improving their oil existing oil production facilities with an aim of increasing production by 200,000 barrels/day.

This didn't sit well with Chucky...we can't have those evil "Big Oil" companies making more money, it might create jobs for Americans and we all know that creating jobs is only a good thing when Democrats do it.

So Chucky, the execrable Senior Senator from New York, assisted by three of the other usual Democrat "Hate America First" suspects, Sens. Carl Levin (D-MI), John Kerry (D-MA) and Claire McCaskill (D-MO), sent a letter to the State Department complaining about the contracts.

Here's part of the text:

"We are concerned that U.S. policy regarding these oil contracts has not been clearly defined, communicated or consistently implemented by the Iraqi government, the Kurdistan Regional Government and international oil companies seeking to do business in Iraq..."

In response, Harold Geisel who is the acting Inspector General of the State Department informed these meddling, anti-American, anti-business senators that he was initiating an investigation. This in spite of the stated policy, as confirmed by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that:

"The United States government has stayed absolutely out of the matter of the awarding of Iraqi oil contracts. ”It's a private sector matter."

Once again the Democrat Party strikes a blow against the needs of the American people in their tireless pursuit of an electoral victory.

While not large by normal standards, these contracts would have opened the door for further investment opportunities.

Sounds like a good idea for a Western world strapped by rising oil prices and the plans, by OPEC, to cut production by 500,000 barrels/day.

Thank-you "Microphone Moth" Schumer!

Here's part of the International Herald Tribune report:

Iraq cancels six no-bid oil contracts
By Andrew E. Kramer and Campbell Robertson
Published: September 11, 2008

An Iraqi plan to award six no-bid contracts to Western oil companies, which came under sharp criticism from several United States senators this summer, has been withdrawn, participants in the negotiations said on Wednesday.

Iraq's oil minister, Hussain al-Shahristani, told reporters at an OPEC summit meeting in Vienna on Tuesday that talks with Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Shell, Total, BP and several smaller companies for one-year deals, which were announced in June and subsequently delayed, had dragged on for so long that the companies could not now fulfill the work within that time frame. The companies confirmed on Wednesday that the deals had been canceled.

While not particularly lucrative by industry standards, the contracts were valued for providing a foothold in Iraq at a time when oil companies are being shut out of energy rich countries around the world. The companies will still be eligible to compete in open bidding in Iraq.

The six no-bid deals were for work to increase Iraqi oil production from existing oil fields by half a million barrels a day — the same amount by which OPEC countries agreed Tuesday to reduce output. After its cancellation of the deals, Iraq reduced by 200,000 barrels per day its goal of producing 2.9 million barrels per day by the end of the year.

So, instead of Western Oil companies like Exxon/Mobil, Chevron, Shell, Total, BP, and the previously mentioned "smaller oil companies" gaining access to Iraqi oil, the Chinese have been awarded the first of the anticipated hugely lucrative oil contracts in Iraq.

Of course Senator Chucky and his erstwhile America haters prefer the freedom and liberty, so evident during the Beijing Olympics, in China to our oppressive, capitalistic corporations.

One truly has to conclude that these senators aren't simply misguided do-gooders looking out for the best interests of our nation; rather, they really do hate America. They really do hate capitalism. They really do want gasoline prices to reach outrageous levels so that they can implement, by force, their socialist, “greenist,” agenda.

Well, I have a few choice words for these senators, most of them can be written with four letters, but I cannot use them here.

If you like big government running your life, I definitely suggest you vote Democrat. Barack Obama and Joe Biden will assure your live will be miserable as they institute their socialist agenda.

If however, you prefer freedom, capitalism and the legacies left to us by our Founding Fathers, vote Republican. At least then we will have a chance of maintaining our current system of government.

Hyperbole Dominates Debate on Lieberman-Warner Global Warming Bill

Will Malven

Following close on the heels of the coldest year of this century and a growing "consensus" among non brain-washed scientists that man-made global warming is a Leftist hoax and in a continuation of the United States Senate's tradition of being a day late and a dollar short, that "august body" of mental defectives will begin debate on the Lieberman-Warner Global Warming Bill.

This bill is a mare's nest of faux science, half-truths and outright lies...beginning with the name of the bill. Properly it should be called the Boxer-Warner Bill as, according to
H. JOSEF HEBERT of the Associated Press, the bulk of the 500 page Leftist assault against capitalism and our economy was authored primarily by Senator Babs Boxer, not Joe Lieberman or John Warner. They are merely the chief co-sponsors. Why isn't Barbara's name on the bill...take a guess. How far do you think such a bill would get if it was sponsored by one of the dimmest bulbs in Congress and one of the most Liberal?

One of the stand-out features of the Lieberman-Warner Bill is a concept resurrected corpse of the McCain-Lieberman Stewardship Act which, happily, was defeated in 2003, the so called "cap and trade" (more properly called "bait and switch") policy dealing with so-called "carbon units."

The key of this proposal is that every corporation and other "entities" (that means you and I) would be given an base allotment of "carbon units" (or credits). Any of these "entities" that exceeded their base allotment of credits would be required to purchase additional credits from those "entities" consuming less than their base allotment. Or as described by the
PEW Center on Global Climate Change:

An entity that was in a covered sector, or that produced or imported synthetic GHGs, would be subject to the requirements of this bill if it (a) owned at least one facility that annually emitted more than 10,000 metric tons of GHGs (measured in units of carbon dioxide equivalents – MTCO2E); (b) produced or imported petroleum products used for transportation that, when combusted, would emit more than 10,000 MTCO2E; or (c) produced or imported HFC, PFC and SF6 that, when used, would emit more than 10,000 MTCO2E. Each covered entity would be required to submit to the EPA one trade-able allowance for each MTCO2E directly emitted. Each petroleum refiner or importer would be required to submit an allowance for each unit of petroleum product sold that, when combusted, would emit one MTCO2E. Each producer or importer of HFC, PFC, and SF6 would be required to submit an allowance for each unit sold that, when used, would emit one MTCO2E. The Administrator would determine the method of calculating the amount of GHG emissions associated with combustion of petroleum products and use of HFC, PFC, and SF6. [Emphasis added]

The net result of this con-game system would amount to a "carbon tax" on all American citizens. The beneficiary of this carbon-tax would, of course, be the United States government, which would then disperse these additional revenues to those industries favored by the environmental wackos (a.k.a. the EPA).

Reading further from PEW:
The Secretary of Commerce would determine the amount of allowances to be given away or "grandfathered" to covered entities and the amount to be auctioned. The Secretary's determination would be subject to a number of allocation factors identified in the bill. Proceeds from the auction would be used to reduce energy costs of consumers and assist disproportionately affected workers. [Emphasis added]

There you have it folks, classic socialism; the redistribution of wealth, as directed by the government, from the profitable to the unprofitable, or energy providers to the governmentally blessed "alternative energy" industry.

Just as it is for every problem facing America, the Left's solution to our energy problems then is "let the government provide the solution, not the free market."

The oil market is steadily tightening as the demand for the known oil supplies continues to grow. The obvious solution is to expand exploration and production. The obvious solution to high gasoline prices is increased refining capacity. Yet these intuitively obvious solutions somehow escape those on the Left.

Is the Left's response to this so-called crisis expand the oil supply? No, it's "let's find more difficult to develop, more expensive sources of energy," and let the government do it, not the free market. As a result, money will be diverted, by the government, to such useless endeavors as wind energy, bio-fuels, and solar power.

These sources would be developed as a natural result of market forces, by private industry, as soon as the expense of developing them became commercially viable. The problem with this sort of government imposed "energy plan" is that it encourages groups to spend tax-payer money to develop commercially unviable energy sources.
The natural result of these policies is the creation boondoggle projects at tax-payer expense.
Today's (Tuesday, June 03, 2008) floor debate varied from the patently dishonest - Bill Nelson (D-Fla) admitting that the markets and supplies are tightening but saying that additional exploration won't solve the problem - Go Figure), to the surreal - Diane Feinstein (another intellectual midget) giving a lecture on the science of "Anthropogenic Global Warming," warning us the Al Gore (now there's an expert opinion to hang your hat on) told her that "Greenland and Antarctic glaciers may melt sooner than expected and raise ocean levels by as much as 20 feet" ( Lions and Tigers and Bear. Oh my!) and Babs Boxerstein declaring in her opening remarks from the floor of the Senate (as related by The Canadian Free Press:
“Why do this [the Lieberman-Warner bill] now? We’re in a recession. Precisely because we’re in a recession is why we should be doing this. This bill is the first thing that brings us hope.”
Sheer genius Babs. Raise taxes and energy costs during the early stages of a recession and drive more jobs overseas. I am certain that your proposal will bring a great deal of "hope" to the workers in China and India as they are hired by companies which will no longer be able to afford to conduct their business in America.

For that proposal alone, Babs should be drawn and quartered. Anyone with half a brain - that let's Barbara Boxer and her fellow Liberals in Congress out - knows that raising taxes during a recession, or near recession will destroy the economy.

The auction of Carbon "allowances" Babs proposes will "bring in" $3.26 Trillion in revenue by 2050. No doubt that Liberals are salivating over this huge influx of tax-payer dollars. It gives them more money to buy the votes of the fools who believe what they are saying.
What? You think only corporations will pay these additional taxes? Where do you think those corporations will get the money for those Carbon Units? Higher prices of course; higher prices that you, the consumer, will pay and pay and pay. You will pay higher food prices, higher fuel prices, higher medical costs, higher clothing costs...well you get the picture.

Of course that $3.26 Trillion is only the beginning. “Madamn” Boxer expects that revenues will eventually reach twice that amount; all of it to be handed out by Congress and the government to those who can best help these slugs get re-elected.

This is the ultimate tax-payer funded boondoggle and it will destroy our economy.
We are safe this year, because President Bush will veto any bill remotely resembling the McCain/Lieberman/Warner/Boxer/Sanders/et al Bill, and congress lacks the votes to overturn a veto or even force a vote. Next year is not so hopeful.

With McCain falling prey to the wiles of Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, Americans will be forced to rely solely on the few strong Conservatives in Congress to obstruct and delay any future Global Warming Boondoggles coming from the Left.

What a bunch of crooks and liars. There is no redeeming feature in any of this legislative activity beyond the entertainment value of watching idiots like Boxer, Feinstein, and The Gigolo act like they know anything about what they are discussing.

There were a few bright spots in today’s debate, some heroes of the debate. Pete Domenici (R-NM) found the fire once more blasting the Democrats, freshman Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) put in a great performance and of course James Inhofe (R-OK) loosed a few broadsides.

The fun is supposed to last the remainder of the week. Some of the Senators will turn your stomach if you have a minimal understanding of the absurdity of the entire AGW scam, but there will be some very bright spots.

Break out the popcorn and enjoy the show. There should be (judging by today's debate) some real fireworks.

Food Shortages: Liberal Chickens Coming Home to Roost

Will Malven

How bizarre! The world is using a staple food product to produce fuel for motor-vehicles, and turning over more and more of its most productive farmland to producing bio-fuels...and there is a growing world-wide food shortage...who'd a thunk it?

Here's a quick quiz for you:

QUESTION: How far down the path of abject stupidity can the Left travel?

ANSWER: Trick question. There is no limit to a Liberal's Narcissism or gullibility.

For Liberals; if it sounds like a good idea, it is. No logical analysis required. No careful analysis of the ultimate consequences necessary. Simply follow your heart and go with it.

Well we (meaning the entire world, not just Americans) are now paying the price for Al Gore and his disciples of disinformation on global warming...Global Food Shortages and starving third world victims.

This from the Times OnLine:

Era of cheap food ends as prices surge

April 23, 2008
Steve Hawkes, Greg Hurst and Valerie Elliott

Families have been warned that the prices of basic foods will rise steeply again because of acute shortages in commodity markets.

Experts told The Times yesterday that prices of rice, wheat and vegetable oil would rise further. They also forecast that high prices and shortages — which have caused riots in developing countries such as Bangladesh and Haiti — were here to stay, and that the days of cheap produce would not return. Food-price inflation has already pushed up a typical family’s weekly shopping bill by 15 per cent in a year.

A further 15 per cent increase in the price of a standard Kingsmill loaf would push it up from £1.09 to to £1.24. Butter has gone up by 62 per cent in the past year. A similar rise would bring the price of a 250g pack to £1.52.

The price of rice, which has almost tripled in a year, rose 2 per cent on the Chicago Board of Trade yesterday as the United Nations food agency gave warning that millions faced starvation because aid agencies were unable to meet the additional financial burden.

Gordon Brown responded to mounting concerns about the global rise in food prices by signalling that he might scale back Britain’s commitment to biofuels, which critics say has exacerbated the food crisis because land has been given over to grow crops for energy rather than food.

John Bason, finance director of Associated British Foods, one of Britain’s biggest food producers, said that wheat prices had doubled in a year and supermarkets would have to raise the price of bread again. Vegetable oil was also likely to soar in price because the price of corn oil in the US had almost tripled, he said.

How stupid do you have to be to be caught off-guard by this "bio-fuels" push?

One doesn't have to have very much "brain-power" to figure this one out. You decide to use one of the worlds staple foods for the generation of fuel rather than nutrition and people begin to suffer from food shortages. Gosh what a revelation!

The law of unintended consequences is a "bitch!" Liberals ought to know this by now, because they experience it so often.

Because Liberals react reflexively rather than reason things out, they are habitually susceptible to being flummoxed when their actions, ill-considered, but taken out of the best of intentions turn out to be catastrophic in their results.

We are now beginning to witness the results of this leap by Democrats...and now of late, unfortunately, some foolish, pandering Republicans as well, to counter Al's folly.

Too late, we are beginning to understand the absurdity of the entire Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) myth...and the unintended consequences of leaping to take unnecessary and poorly thought out ideas intended to counter a non-existent phenomenon.

People in Central and Latin America are unable to afford the rapidly inflating price of grain to feed their families. As a result, there will calls for government action to provide food to people who used to be capable of sustaining themselves, rendering them dependent upon the largess of government rather than remaining self-sufficient.

As the insanity of refusing to allow oil companies to explore for more supplies of oil in areas in which there is a high probability of discovering large reserves, out of "concern for the environment," this trend toward limited food supplies will continue to spread globally and may eventually lead to massive starvation.

All because a few vain scientists believe they know more than God. Earth has experienced repeated and extended variations of global temperature, but now, now that we have scientist who have developed their pet theory of AGW...which coincidently is their meal-ticket...suddenly, that which has been occurring for eons, well before the influence of humanity, is caused by humans.

Such a conclusion is so absurd that, if it wasn't for the now apparent tragic consequences of our governments' reactions, would be hysterically funny.

The blame for these food shortages need to be placed where it belongs, directly at the feet of arrogant scientists, and the foolish, scientifically un-informed politicians who allow themselves to be stampeded into precipitous and inane reactive policies.

Unfortunately, it will not be the Al Gore’s, Gordon Brown’s and George Bush’s of the world who will pay the price for these bad policies, but the rank and file inhabitants of their nations. It's good to see that at least Gordon Brown is now becoming aware of his mistake.

Long Live Our American Republic!!!
